Having just graduated from Brighton Uni and so taken part in GDI ’09, it makes sense that graphic designer Kirsty Hole has updated her website drastically with a completely new and ravashing design as well as nice new content from the areas of photography and graphic design including a nostalgic, rustic set of photos from a laundrette (shown).

Transparency (pictured) is a nice set of promotional posters by Khristian Mendoza, aka Goodbye Galaxy, which emphasize the need for transparent design, its effectiveness and appeal in a very striking way.

Another Brighton illustration graduate, Chris Pell has quite an unusual choice of subject for his illustrations helping to set his work apart as he often depicts some sort of ritual or bizarre person. Don’t let this put you off though as this doesn’t detract from his work but instead adds something to it, a sort of “oddity” character.

Brilliant and colourful work from the London based duo Anna Lomax and Lauren Davies who make up Jiggery Pokery and not too recently won a poster design competition by ‘Don’t Panic‘ with their entertaining scene ‘The Magic Machine’. They specialise in devising unusually surreal and rich environments as well as 3D creations, interactive displays and larger than life props.

Danish photographer Peter Funch’s collection ‘Babel Tales’ is an incredible mix of composition and photosplicing as he takes many photos of individual people with a similar characteristic and interweaves them all into a single photo, using photoshop, to create a surreal scene such as the photographers shown.

Soft, staggeringly detailed photography by Itou Kouichi, whose portfolio is a mix of monochrome and colour photography with impeccable composition and lighting being put into effect throughout. Look out for the set of animal photos, one of which is shown here, which are unimaginable and will make you reconsider the limits of photography.
