Honda Insight

‘Let it Shine’, the latest spot by Honda, directed by Erik van Wyk and produced by Bouffant via Wieden+Kennedy’s Amsterdam branch, has been produced to spread the news of the new environmental brand platform by Honda without the need for all the green.

All stops were pulled out as what is possibly the world’s largest LED screen, composed of hundreds of Honda Insights, relays iconographic stories at dawn of hugs and kisses, frowns turned into smiles, and general good will, which are all meant to convey people’s inherent wish to be good.

Something to watch and share.

Itou Kouichi

Itou Kouichi

Soft, staggeringly detailed photography by Itou Kouichi, whose portfolio is a mix of monochrome and colour photography with impeccable composition and lighting being put into effect throughout. Look out for the set of animal photos, one of which is shown here, which are unimaginable and will make you reconsider the limits of photography.

Charley Harper

Charley Harper

While his tribute art shop is ugly as sin, the art of the late Charley Harper, in itself, is refreshing. Even though it from the 70′s and 80′s, the work shows no sign of wear with its vibrant colours and minimalistic, geometric shapes standing out from the crowd even today. I like how the art was described by Harper himself (sorry it is quite long).

“When I look at a wildlife or nature subject, I don’t see the feathers in the wings, I just count the wings. I see exciting shapes, color combinations, patterns, textures, fascinating behavior and endless possibilities for making interesting pictures. I regard the picture as an ecosystem in which all the elements are interrelated, interdependent, perfectly balanced, without trimming or unutilized parts; and herein lies the lure of painting; in a world of chaos, the picture is one small rectangle in which the artist can create an ordered universe.”

More after the break… and if you want to, please answer the poll.
